DRIVER TRAINING PROGRAM
Wheeling Wisely
Wheeling Wisely is 4WDABC’s off-road training program designed to help drivers build confidence, improve recovery skills, and explore British Columbia’s backcountry safely and responsibly.

PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Training for Safe and Responsible Off-Roading
Education has always been central to the 4WDABC mission. For many years, experienced members informally shared knowledge to help new drivers learn safe and responsible backcountry travel.
In 2018, the association launched the Wheeling Wisely program to provide structured, professional-level training for off-road drivers across British Columbia. Working with instructors from the International 4 Wheel Drive Trainers Association (I4WDTA), members from across the province were trained not only in advanced driving and recovery techniques, but also in how to teach those skills effectively.
Since the first Foundations of Four-Wheeling course launched in Prince George in 2019, the program has continued to expand with new courses, new instructors, and training opportunities across BC.
Today, Wheeling Wisely helps drivers build the confidence, skills, and judgment needed to explore the backcountry safely and responsibly.
