ACCESS UPDATES
FortisBC Construction & Trail Access
FortisBC is continuing work on the Eagle Mountain – Woodfibre Gas Pipeline Project. Construction activity is impacting access to the Eagle Mountain trail, including closures near the second gate and along Plateau Boulevard.
Please review the latest updates below before planning your visit.

UPDATE – OCTOBER 9, 2025
Construction is nearing completion in the Eagle Mountain area. From approximately October 14–21 (weather dependent), repaving work will restrict access to Plateau Boulevard 24/7. Once complete, trail access will reopen through Spring/Summer 2026, when crews will briefly return to complete final connections.
UPDATE – MAY 18, 2025 (CLARIFICATION)
Additional contractor work is ongoing near the compressor station. This does not further impact access to 4WDABC or WCST.
Parking restrictions and trail access off Plateau Boulevard remain consistent with previous seasons.
UPDATE – MAY 16, 2025
Crews resumed work starting May 19. Work hours are typically:
Monday–Friday: 7am–8pm
Weekends: 7am–6pm
Trail and road closures may occur as needed. Advance notice signage will be posted where possible.
ABOUT THE PROGRAM
Urban Wheeling at Eagle Mountain
Eagle Mountain (Cypress Lake FSR) is a rare off-road trail located within an urban environment, offering technical terrain and a rewarding viewpoint at the summit.
Vehicle access was originally closed in 2002. In 2009, a controlled key access program was introduced, and in 2018 transitioned to a Bluetooth lock system for improved tracking and management.
Today, 4WDABC manages the program under agreement with Rec Sites and Trails BC, maintaining access while supporting infrastructure, environmental protection, and long-term sustainability.
Supporting Access Together
This program exists through collaboration with multiple organizations and volunteers working to preserve responsible access to Eagle Mountain.
