DESCRIPTION:September Cleanup – Sunday\, September 22nd – BC Rivers Day \nJoin us for the Chilliwack / Vedder River Cleanup Society’s annual BC Rivers Day River Cleanup! \nRegistration is open from 8:30-9:30am and we will be supplying garbage bags\, gloves\, and pick-up sticks. We will ask that all garbage be dropped off at the park no later than 1:30pm. \nIf you pre-register via email you will receive an additional raffle ticket for prizes. Please email us your name\, cell phone #\, and emergency contact name and phone number at info@cleanrivers.ca to pre-register. Please ensure you send the information for everyone in your group. \nP.S. we are looking for a hardy group of folks who want to tackle some challenging terrain and have 4 x 4 vehicles. If this is you please email us at info@cleanrivers.ca \nAugust 24 UPDATE from CVRCS:\nSunday\, September 22nd is our annual BC Rivers Day River Cleanup. at the Thompson Regional Park – 48600 Chilliwack Lake Rd\, Chilliwack. \nWe are very excited to have morning refreshments offered by McDonalds on Luckakuck in Chilliwack and hotdogs & drinks provided by the Chilliwack Dogwood Monarch Lions Club—huge thanks to these generous organizations for supporting the River Cleanup in this way. Please remember your reusable mug as we will not be offering single-use cups. \nYou can pre-register to enter to win a prize by emailing us at info@cleanrivers.ca with the following information. \n– Full Name \n– Cell Phone # \n– Emergency Contact – name and phone number \n– You will still need to sign a waiver at the registration table at the Fish and Game Club \nRegistration will also be on-site between 8:30am and 9:30am. Everyone will receive a raffle ticket for more prizes. Those who pre-register via email double their chances to win. \nWe ask that all garbage be returned to Thompson Regional Park by 12:30 pm -1 pm (food will be ready for 1pm) and IF you come across drywall PLEASE do not remove it\, if you can record the GPS location we will notify the authorities for its safe removal. \nThis event goes rain or shine. DESCRIPTION:Join us for a major cleanup of the East Harrison area on Sunday\, September 22. \nMeetup/staging area at the start of East Harrison FSR\, by the entrance to Sasquatch Provincial Park. We get going about 9:00 AM. \nFood to be provided by Maple Ridge Chrysler. RSVP below so we know how many to expect. \nPRIZE ALERT!\nIn addition to providing a staging area for this cleanup and accepting garbage drop-offs\, Harrison Adventure RVing has offered a prize of a one-night stay in one of their RVs\, winner to be chosen by random draw from among all cleanup participants. \nPlease be sure to sign in at the staging area to be entered in the draw; if you’re planning to pick up garbage along the way rather than going to the meetup point first\, that’s fine\, just get your name in by 3:30 PM if you want to be included in the draw. \n

SUMMARY:FRASER VALLEY - Essentials of Off-Road Recovery (EOR)
DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE NEAR STAVE LAKE\, BC.  \nMeetup is Sunday\, September 22\, 2024\, at 8:30 AM at the Hayward Lake Rec Area parking lot.  \nThe focus of the second course of this series\, “Essentials of Off-Road Recovery\,” is to take you through the basics and help make you comfortable recovering your off-road vehicle from various common “stuck” situations. \nCourse topics include equipment selection and care\, assessing a “stuck” while looking at it in a 360-degree view\, and hands-on experience in various simple recovery scenarios. \nIn this day-long class\, you will safely learn with our trained instructors in a controlled\, real-world environment. On-trail skills you’ll learn include how to choose the proper recovery method and gear for a given situation and how to use traction boards\, recovery straps\, a Hi-Lift jack\, and a winch. Our classes are small\, allowing you to interact with the other students and share your experiences while learning from each other\, and you will be encouraged to practice each of your new skills in our Hands-On training style. \nBy the end of the course\, you will gain confidence in yourself and a better understanding of your vehicle and recovery options\, allowing you to head out on your adventures and be safer. \nBE SURE TO BRING: \n\nChair\nBug spray\nClothing for outdoor conditions (warm\, rain-proof coat and pants; hiking or mud boots as appropriate to the weather)\nWork gloves\nLunch / Snacks / Non-alcoholic Beverages\nPen & Paper\n\nNo additional equipment is required\, although we strongly recommend you have a full-size spare. Part of the day will be learning about the types of tools available to help you with your own purchasing decisions. You’re welcome to bring and ask questions about any other equipment you already own\, particularly recovery straps/ropes and winches. \n\nCost of this event is $150 for current 4WDABC individual members. Each person attending will require their own ticket.
