DESCRIPTION:Formerly the Kenyon Lake Maintenance Run – Now the Sylvester Road Newbie Run. This is still stock and newbie friendly\, but some clearance and 4WD with low range is required. \nWe welcome those who enjoy using their four-wheel-drive vehicle to explore and discover beautiful places. If you have no experience driving your 4×4 ‘ off-road’ in difficult or rough terrain and want to gain knowledge and experience in a friendly\, knowledgeable\, and safe environment\, this is the event for you. We always welcome experienced drivers who want a relaxed day and the opportunity to help novice wheelers. \nThere is a choice of five destinations during this run\, and we can do any three of them\, time permitting. The “warm-up challenge\,” Salsbury Lake\, Tank Trap\, The Grotto\, and Kenyon Lake. If we have a large number of rigs turn out\, then we may split into two groups and do things in a different order. \nFROM THE RUN LEADER:\nThis run is for novices and will feature some basic challenges. A proper four-wheel-drive vehicle with reasonable ground clearance and a willingness to learn new things is all that is required. \nOne of the goals of these runs is to help you determine what equipment\, tools\, and accessories you need; nobody should feel they aren’t “properly equipped” to attend. We recommend\, but do not require\, that you have the following: \n\nSuitable tires with good tread\nFull-size spare and jack for your vehicle\nTire gauge\, compressor\, and plug kit\nWork gloves\nCommon sense\nand most importantly\, bring a good attitude\n\nCommunications (optional\, but recommended – see 4wdabc.ca/communications): \n\nLMR 4WDABC channel 2 (Lower Mainland)\nHam 146.460MHz (ham license required)\nFRS/GMRS channel 4\, privacy code 0 (or off)\nCB channel 4\n\nThis is a family-friendly\, drug- and alcohol-free event. Pets are welcome\, but please keep them leashed and under control. \nMeetup is at 9:30 am at the Husky at Lougheed Hwy. and Sylvester Rd. just east of Mission with a departure time of 10:00 am sharp to head to the air-down area. You can expect the group to return to the Husky by about 5:00 pm\, although participants can always leave early if they need to\, just make sure one of your run leaders knows you’re going.

SUMMARY:Hale Creek (West Harrison) Maintenance/Newbie Run
DESCRIPTION:We welcome those who enjoy using their four-wheel-drive vehicle to explore and discover beautiful places. If you have no experience driving your 4×4 ‘ off-road’ in difficult or rough terrain and want to gain knowledge and experience in a friendly\, knowledgeable\, and safe environment\, this is the event for you. \nThese monthly runs cover beginner trails and light intermediate trails. Generally\, there will be two groups leading runs: one for new drivers and another for intermediate drivers. All the usual trails are stock 4×4 accessible\, although because 4x4s vary so much in clearance\, length\, and angles\, some may involve dents and scrapes for some vehicles. Run leaders will assess your rigs before starting out to ensure the trails you run are suitable for what you want to do and are comfortable with. \nMeetup at 9:30 in the gravel lot at the four-way stop behind the Sasquatch Inn (46001 Lougheed Hwy.\, Harrison Mills\, BC V0M 1L0) for a 10:00 AM rollout. Air down at the Weaver Creek hatchery and head out for Hale Creek\, and other potential destinations such as Skwellepil Creek\, Francis Lake\, Sunrise Lake\, or North Chehalis. Depending on the turnout\, we’ll probably break into smaller groups with a choice of destinations. \n\nParticipants may leave the group any time they like\, but please be sure to inform one of the run leaders before you do. Expect the group to return to the Sasquatch by around 4:00 PM. \nOne of the goals of these runs is to help you determine what equipment\, tools\, and accessories you need; nobody should feel they aren’t “properly equipped” to attend. DESCRIPTION:As part of our agreement with Rec Sites and Trails BC for the ongoing care of Skwellepil Creek Rec Site\, they require that it be maintained as “4×4-access only” by keeping the cross-ditches in the trail cleared out. To kick off this summer camping season\, then\, we’ll be having a “ditch-clearing” day and we invite members to bring their “shovels and rakes and implements of destruction” to help out! \nWe will be meeting at the gravel lot at the four-way stop behind the Sasquatch Inn at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM departure. Those who want to come a bit later are welcome to join us up at the site. \nOnce we get to Skwellepil rec site\, we will focus on clearing the ditches at the entrance. If we have enough people\, we may get some other site maintenance in as well. \nMaple Ridge Chrysler has generously offered to supply our volunteers with lunch! If you are going to attend\, please select “Going” so that they know how much food to bring!! \nThis is a family-friendly\, drug- and alcohol-free event.

DESCRIPTION:The Wheelers of Tomorrow are happy to announce their next Camp out and Movie Night – The theme this time will be: \nA VERY MERRY UNBIRTHDAY TO US! \nIn true Mad Hatter and Alice format\, we will be celebrating the bestest Unbirthday Tea Party\, Dressing up is highly encouraged for our guests. \nThe event will be complete with magical hats\, streamers\, noisemakers\, a pinata (or four)\, and a large selection of games that can be played such as volleyball\, bocce\, soccer and other games for a variety of ages. \nPLEASE ONLY RSVP IF YOU ARE CERTAIN YOU CAN ATTEND.  Food is purchased before the event to ensure we have enough\, and last-minute cancellations can end up with a lot of wasted candy and pre-cooked bacon I have to eat or give away. There will be reminders sent out as we get closer\, so don’t worry you won’t forget to do your RSVP as we get nearer. \nDinner will stay true to our tried and true format of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers for Dinner\, two movies under the stars and a delicious breakfast of bacon and pancakes. Of course\, many snacks\, such as the coveted Freezies\, Chicago Mix Popcorn\, and the occasional healthy treat such as a carrot will also join us.  Breakfast will be our traditional pancake and bacon breakfast. \nOur special guests will each receive their very own birthday Goodie Bags and cupcakes to decorate. \nWe ask that if any children are going in the water past their knees\, they wear life jackets. \nWe will meet at the Weaver Creek Staging area at 1 PM; those familiar with the Hale trip are welcome to proceed.  You may notice that the email says 3 PM\, that is because I will have people waiting at the parking lot at 1 to start taking people down\, but 3 PM is the final roll call for the last group. \nFor those unfamiliar with Hale\, a 4×4 is required (stock is fine).  For those unfamiliar with offroad\, we will have people who can help spot you if needed.  This is a good adventure even for those that are not experienced yet. \nAs always\, we are seeking volunteers to: \n\nBe a social media mogul\nSet up the eye-spy on the way there\nSet up Hale for Decorations\, Tarps\, Cooking machines\nTransport goods from my place in Maple Ridge to Hale (my trailer can not carry it all\, and this resulted in running late last time).\nCook\nRun Cupcake decorating\nMan pinatas to keep children from whacking other people – there will be no blindfolds involved.. due to liability concerns.. lol\nClean up and back things back to my place in Maple Ridge or Storage locker.\nLeaders and tail gunners to lead people down to Hale the easy way\, and back out if needed.

If you have no experience driving your 4×4 ‘ off-road’ in difficult or rough terrain and want to gain knowledge and experience in a friendly\, knowledgeable\, and safe environment\, this is the event for you. We always welcome experienced drivers who want a relaxed day and the opportunity to help novice wheelers. \nThere is a choice of five destinations during this run\, and we can do any three of them\, time permitting. The “warm-up challenge\,” Salsbury Lake\, Tank Trap\, The Grotto\, and Kenyon Lake. If we have a large number of rigs turn out\, then we may split into two groups and do things in a different order. \nFROM THE RUN LEADER:\nThis run is for novices and will feature some basic challenges. A proper four-wheel-drive vehicle with reasonable ground clearance and a willingness to learn new things is all that is required. \nOne of the goals of these runs is to help you determine what equipment\, tools\, and accessories you need; nobody should feel they aren’t “properly equipped” to attend. SUMMARY:Hale Creek (West Harrison) Maintenance/Newbie Run
DESCRIPTION:We welcome those who enjoy using their four-wheel-drive vehicle to explore and discover beautiful places. If you have no experience driving your 4×4 ‘ off-road’ in difficult or rough terrain and want to gain knowledge and experience in a friendly\, knowledgeable\, and safe environment\, this is the event for you. \nThese monthly runs cover beginner trails and light intermediate trails. Generally\, there will be two groups leading runs: one for new drivers and another for intermediate drivers. All the usual trails are stock 4×4 accessible\, although because 4x4s vary so much in clearance\, length\, and angles\, some may involve dents and scrapes for some vehicles. Run leaders will assess your rigs before starting out to ensure the trails you run are suitable for what you want to do and are comfortable with. \nMeetup at 9:30 in the gravel lot at the four-way stop behind the Sasquatch Inn (46001 Lougheed Hwy.\, Harrison Mills\, BC V0M 1L0) for a 10:00 AM rollout. Air down at the Weaver Creek hatchery and head out for Hale Creek\, and other potential destinations such as Skwellepil Creek\, Francis Lake\, Sunrise Lake\, or North Chehalis. Depending on the turnout\, we’ll probably break into smaller groups with a choice of destinations. \n\nParticipants may leave the group any time they like\, but please be sure to inform one of the run leaders before you do. Expect the group to return to the Sasquatch by around 4:00 PM. \nOne of the goals of these runs is to help you determine what equipment\, tools\, and accessories you need; nobody should feel they aren’t “properly equipped” to attend. We recommend\, but do not require\, that you have the following: \n\nSuitable tires\, with good tread\nFull-size spare and jack for your vehicle\nTire gauge\, compressor\, and plug kit\nWork gloves\nCommon sense\nand most importantly\, bring a good attitude\n\nCommunications (optional\, but recommended): \n\nLMR 4WDABC channel 2 (Lower Mainland)\nHam 146.460MHz (ham qualification and callsign required)\nFRS/GMRS channel 4\, privacy code 0 (or off)\nCB channel 4\n(see 4wdabc.ca/communications)\n\nDuring these runs\, our members and volunteers will clean up these sites\, clear brush\, repair structures\, and remove garbage. You are welcome to participate.\nThis is a family-friendly\, drug- and alcohol-free event. \nNote: run may be rescheduled or cancelled depending on weather and road conditions; please check back here before heading out.
