DESCRIPTION:8:30am we’ll convoy from Marysville Petro Canada. Once we hit St. Mary’s Lake Rd. we’ll air down at the Hellroaring FSR junction. From there it’s a scenic drive for all 4×4 abilities to the lake head. \nWe have signage to install and an Association fire pit\, there’s brushing and tree removal\, picnic table repairs and general maintenance to be done. \nPlease bring sunscreen and tools/shovels for the type of work you want to perform. There is some GlueTread swag to be drawn for our workers too. \nDon’t forget your swimsuit and paddle boards for post-work relaxation!

The exact timing of the parade hasn’t been confirmed yet\, but I need to get an estimate of people coming for it for the event organizers. \nRSVP BELOW \n\nInfo from the Organizers: \n\nGOOD MORNING PARADE PARTICIPANTS!\n\nYou are receiving this email as you have registered your business or organization to participate in the 2025 Beaver Valley May Days Parade! Thank you for joining us in making this event fun for Fruitvale!\n\nBefore I get too far into the details\, I would like to thank our amazing sponsors for their contribution this year!\n1) Century 21 Kootenay Homes (2018) Ltd. is our Parade Sponsor for the second year in a row! We are so grateful for their contribution and we would not be able to put this on without them!\n2) The Fruitvale Christian Fellowship is our After Parade Lunch Sponsor\, providing food and drink for all participants! We will be set up on Main Street in front of Fruitvale Canco/Post Office!\nYou MUST check in – do not line up without seeing us at the tent first. Your spot will be assigned so it’s important you gather that information from the tent.\n– Judging will begin at 10:30am – we have ribbons for 1st\, 2nd\, and 3rd place and this is strictly for fun and bragging rights! But we do need a truck or two to help carry out the garbage. Is anybody willing to volunteer their vehicle for garbage removal? The Trail landfill has agreed to waive fees for us. I just need the description of your truck and plate number\, so they know who to wave through.\nVolunteers will need to bring :\n– Sturdy gloves! This is the most important part please bring very good gloves\n– Rakes and shovels preferably the wide plastic rakes but metal is good to.\n– Does anybody have a tarp we can use to cover the garbage on the way to the dump?\n– I can bring one of those magnetic sweeper things to pick up nails. \n– and I will pick up those thick sturdy garbage bags \n\n\nIf you’re gonna come out\, please message me! So that I know who is coming and nobody gets left behind.

DESCRIPTION:9:30am meeting at the St. Marys River Road & Hellroaring FSR junction.\n\n\nWhat to bring: smiles\, sunscreen\, and painting clothes and brushes. The brave are welcome to bring paddleboards and kayaks.\n\n\nThis is an easy run that any 4×4 can tackle\, we will spot those who require it. SUMMARY:Ryan Rexin's BC Road Trip
DESCRIPTION:I’m planning a summer wheeling/road trip through southern BC and I’m inviting members to join me for all or parts of the trip!\n\n\nLeaving Edmonton\, Alberta\, Saturday July 13th 2024\n\n\nNo planned stops or camping\, just seeing where the roads take me and setting up camp when required. \nThe route includes (in no particular order):\nGrey Creek Pass (from Kimberly to Grey Creek)\nLavina Lookout\nMarblehead Quarry\nBuchanan Lookout\nSandon\nColumbia & Western Rail Trail (Castlegar to Christina Lake)\nWhipsaw\n\nHopefully\, the fire bans and weather cooperate a bit for this\, but if we need to make changes so be it. I’m also open to checking out other trails or summits along the way.\n\nGrey Creek Pass: Opens July 1\, I’ve never done it so don’t really know what to expect. sounds fairly simple from everything I read on it.\n\nLavina Lookout: this gives a beautiful view of Kootenay Lake and Duncan Lake. Will be on part of an Active logging road to access. I’m planning on tenting at the lookout.\n\nMarblehead Quarry: A small marble mine covered in colourful graffiti. We can do this either before Lavina or after (most likely before)  And yes\, you can park in it. but it’s small.\n\nBuchanan Lookout: is a quick little climb\, giving a great view of Kootenay Lake.\n\nSandon: is a little ghost town\, they have a museum there as well as BC’s 1st hydro plant\, which is still running and we can walk through it. Sandon is more a touristy thing\, but worth it. Idaho peak is accessed through Sandon\, but to my understanding\, you can’t drive to the peak anymore. and I’m not sure how far the hike is.\n\nColumbia & Western Rail Trail: Hopefully\, I can get the club to open the gate in Castlegar for the full trail. The rail trail is very easy: 2WD\, fairly flat\, but has some amazing views. Crosses a few trestle bridges and passes through a few tunnels\, one of which is around 1km long. Its really neat to drive through.\n\nWhipsaw: I’ve never been to yet\, so I’m winging that one. It sure sounds interesting.\n\nCamping:\nI plan on just Crown Land camping. I may consider a campground with showers between the Rail Trail and Whipsaw\, as we may start smelling a bit ripe by then. Could always spend some time at a beach and go for a swim to de-sweat as well.\n\nI’m not really sure where to camp\, so I am open to ideas. I spoke with the campground by Kimberly for the Grey Creek trail\, they are $50 a night to tent\, but she said there’s all sorts of crown land camping.\n\nFuel-wise\, we’ll stop when needed\, I’m carrying 22Ls just in case.\n\nDates:\nDeparting Edmonton on July 13\, 2024 (Saturday); not sure what time yet\, gauge that based upon the level of interest.\nI’m estimating this will take five days. so add in a day for side trips\, slow days\, or just in case. I’m expecting to be back in Edmonton around July 19th. Of course\, that could change. I booked the 15th to 19th off.\n\nIf you are interested in tagging along\, please let me know.\n\nThings you’ll need:\nFood.\nDrinks/Water.\nCamping gear.\nSwimwear/camping clothes\, stuff like that.\nAnd whatever you have for recovery gear.\nSome trails we’ll air down for. SUMMARY:Grand Opening of the Franklin Heritage Trail
DESCRIPTION:Located approximately 60 km north of Grand Forks\, the Franklin Heritage Trail was one of the most important trails leading to the rich mines in the Burrell Valley. The 1915 Hot Air Line was the end of the line for railway trains\, and gold ore was carried by wagon trains to the end of the line to be reloaded on train cars and hauled to the smelter. \nGrand Forks ATV Club and many partners have come together and made safety improvements to the trail\, trying to maintain the original 123-year-old trail. \nWe invite everyone to join GFATV and others at Bluejoint Creek Recreation Site as we celebrate this great accomplishment! \nRibbon cutting will be at 10 am\, followed by a trail ride of approximately 5 hours\, travelling the original route and exploring the many historical points and signage as we travel the trail. \nGFATV will host a BBQ at 5 when we return to Bluejoint Creek Recreation Site. Cake to follow.
