SUMMARY:Radar Hill Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:Radar Hill in Campbell River has seen some significant illegal dumping and abandoned burnt vehicles\, and we want to see it cleaned up. We are organizing volunteers to come help restore the land back to nature.\n\nWe will be using machines to deal with large garbage and vehicles. We will need volunteers to help pick up smaller waste and load it into a waste bin that is being delivered to the site. Thanks to the Comox Valley Regional District\, tipping fees are being waived.\n\nThere are two dump sites. The one dumping site close to the entrance is where volunteers are needed to pick up trash. SUMMARY:Nahatlatch Rebirth: Site Cleanup
DESCRIPTION:We’re starting on site cleanup and mitigation in preparation for rebuilding! \nFirst steps will involve picking up the broken/melted glass\, metal scrap\, charred wood\, and garbage around the site (there’s a lot that was hidden by the bushes beside the tower). \nIf we have the people and equipment we may work on brushing around the area to keep it clear as well. \nMeet at the tower for 11:00 AM on October 11. \nImportant: Google Maps directions to the site have historically been inaccurate and are currently not working at all. Please follow the directions from RSTBC. We’re told that the ranch put up a gate to stop logging traffic from rushing through\, and now the logging company is cutting a new road bypassing the ranch\, so directions may be updated later. \nThose wishing to convoy up can meet Cameron at the Hope Starbucks at 8:00 AM. \nWe’ll need pickups and trailers for hauling out the trash. Garbage bags and some tools will be provided\, but people should also bring their own shovels\, pickers\, power landscaping tools (weedeaters\, etc.) and so on. \nLimited camping is available on-site for those wishing to go up the day before or stay afterward. \nThose hauling the debris out can take it to their local landfill/transfer station and will be reimbursed. You can also bring your own metal rakes\, shovels\, work gloves\, etc. Garbage bags\, nitrile gloves\, pickers\, and magnetic sweepers will be supplied. \nMeet at the Davis Lake Staging Area (3km mark of Lost Creek FSR) starting at 9:30 AM on Saturday\, June 7\, 2025 \nCheck in\, then head out to various side-roads and shooting galleries. Remember that Davis Lake is off-limits to motorized access. We expect a couple of Conservation Officers to join us to show their support and to educate people on the shooting closures in the area! \nRemember to take before and after photos\, and to submit them along with details of work done on our Volunteering web page – it’s important to document the stewardship work wheelers do in the backcountry!\nRSVP below so we’ll have an idea of how many are coming. DESCRIPTION:Meet at the Dragonfly in Salmo. We’ve scouted the area. We know what needs attention; now it’s time to clean it! Who is in?! It’ll be a fun day. But we do need a truck or two to help carry out the garbage. Is anybody willing to volunteer their vehicle for garbage removal? The Trail landfill has agreed to waive fees for us. I just need the description of your truck and plate number\, so they know who to wave through.\nVolunteers will need to bring :\n– Sturdy gloves! This is the most important part please bring very good gloves\n– Rakes and shovels preferably the wide plastic rakes but metal is good to.\n– Does anybody have a tarp we can use to cover the garbage on the way to the dump?\n– I can bring one of those magnetic sweeper things to pick up nails. \n– and I will pick up those thick sturdy garbage bags \n\n\nIf you’re gonna come out\, please message me! So that I know who is coming and nobody gets left behind.

SUMMARY:"BRING YOUR OWN SHOVEL" PARTY!
DESCRIPTION:As part of our agreement with Rec Sites and Trails BC for the ongoing care of Skwellepil Creek Rec Site\, they require that it be maintained as “4×4-access only” by keeping the cross-ditches in the trail cleared out. To kick off this summer camping season\, then\, we’ll be having a “ditch-clearing” day and we invite members to bring their “shovels and rakes and implements of destruction” to help out! \nWe will be meeting at the gravel lot at the four-way stop behind the Sasquatch Inn at 9:30 AM for a 10:00 AM departure. Those who want to come a bit later are welcome to join us up at the site. \nOnce we get to Skwellepil rec site\, we will focus on clearing the ditches at the entrance. If we have enough people\, we may get some other site maintenance in as well. \nMaple Ridge Chrysler has generously offered to supply our volunteers with lunch! If you are going to attend\, please select “Going” so that they know how much food to bring!! \nThis is a family-friendly\, drug- and alcohol-free event.

Since the beginning of the pandemic\, Vedder Mountain has experienced heavy use\, and the mountain could use some love. \n\nClean Up supplies will be provided.\nDress appropriately for terrain and weather.\nBring your food and water.\nCommunity Volunteers will be given direction from the Volunteer Members for removing trash along all roadways and trails across the mountain from the Abbotsford/Yarrow side & the Cultus Lake side.\nClub Members will provide vehicles to access the areas on the mountain.

SUMMARY:Steeling Back The Flats
DESCRIPTION:Now that the water has dropped and the flats are opened\, we have the opportunity to get some of the scrap metal\, nails and other garbage that gets left behind cleaned up.\n\nMeeting at the Second beach entrance across from the Dirt Church host site and washroom area.for 10 am and then we can disperse from there to the rest of the flats. Lunch will be aimed for noon with pack up for 3 pm\n\nJoin us in this family-friendly event aimed at cleaning up our flats. We will have buckets\, bags\, grabbers\, gloves and some magnets available for use. There will be a trailer available for the scraps.\nPlease dress appropriately as this will get muddy. SUMMARY:Jones Lake Cleanup\, Fall 2022
DESCRIPTION:Once again Jones Lake has been hit by the litter bug. We know so many of you love this place and want to keep it clean so we’ll be holding a cleanup event. \nWe will be meeting at the big clearing around the 11km mark just past the cabins at 10 am. You’ll see Association tents setup at this spot. We will have garbage pickers\, gloves and garbage bags available for everyone to use. All garbage can be brought to the meetup area where it can be loaded into the appropriate trailers( hopefully a bin!)for disposal! Please make sure to return to the meetup area by 3pm so that we can make it to the dump on time! \nPlease make sure to bring appropriate clothing and footwear for the day! Safety vest are a great extra precaution if you have one! \nMaple Ridge Chrysler has graciously offered to provide everyone with lunch! Please make sure to mark yourself as going so that they know how much food to bring!
