DESCRIPTION:THIS EVENT TAKES PLACE NEAR PENTICTON\, BC.  \nMeetup is Sunday\, August 24\, 2025\, at 8:30 AM at the Apex Mountain Resort. \nContinuing hands-on instruction with guidance from our skilled trainers in a variety of winching scenarios\, you will gain the knowledge and confidence to use your winch safely in a recovery situation. \nFollowing introductions and housekeeping\, the day will start with a review of basic winch operation\, concepts\, and safety\, then expand to variations on the double-line pull\, including offset pulls\, redirected pulls\, using another vehicle as an anchor point\, and securing a vehicle for angled recovery in extreme situations. \nBy the end of this action-packed day\, you will have learned new skills\, built your confidence\, and made new friends. You’ll be better prepared to deal with situations that may come up on your next adventure! \nBE SURE TO BRING: \n\nChair\nBug spray\nClothing for outdoor conditions (warm\, rain-proof coat and pants; hiking or mud boots as appropriate to the weather)\nWork gloves\nLunch / Snacks / Non-alcoholic Beverages\nPen & Paper\nTP/toiletries – NO FACILITIES ON SITE\n\nNo additional equipment is required\, although we strongly recommend you have a full-size spare. Part of the day will be learning about the tools available to help you make purchasing decisions. You’re welcome to bring and ask questions about any other equipment you already own\, particularly air-down/air-up tools. \n\nCost of this event is $200 for current 4WDABC individual members. Each person attending will require their own ticket. Exact location to be disclosed once attendance is approved. \nWe’re heading out for a day of serious off-road adventures! This trip is intended for intermediate and advanced drivers only. If you’ve tackled Eagle Mountain\, you’ll know what kind of challenge to expect. \nWe’ll be exploring some technical and demanding trails\, so both drivers and vehicles must be well-equipped for off-road emergencies. This is a challenging run – while damage is not the goal\, it is possible. \nYOU ARE ENTERING THIS RUN OF YOUR OWN ACCORD. THE 4WDABC IS NOT LIABLE FOR ANY DAMAGE. \n🔧 Requirements: \n\nModified 4×4 rig in excellent mechanical condition\nEagle Mountain Requirements: Applicants’ vehicles must have a minimum 33” or equivalent tire size\, or 12′′ (30.5cm) ground clearance\nWinch\, sliders\, recovery points\nRecovery gear (winch\, straps\, shackles\, etc.)\n2-way radio\nFire extinguisher\nSpare tire and essential tools\nExperience driving on steep\, loose\, off camber and rocky terrain\nPack out what you pack in… or more.\nSigned trail waiver\n\n🛑 PLEASE NOTE: \n\nThis is not a beginner-friendly run\nYou must meet the same qualifications as required for the Eagle Mountain Trail\nThis is a run-at-your-own-risk event — be prepared for trail challenges\nTrail guide approval required to attend\n\nSpace is limited to 8 rigs plus trail guides so RSVP below let us know if you’re coming so we provide you with the meetup details.
